An uncomfortable pre-match build-up saw Boston United come away pointless from yet another Blue Square Conference North away game.
Boston lost goalkeeper Simon Rayner on Friday after he was recalled by parent club Torquay United, and veteran midfielder Stewart Talbot limped out of the warm-up.
Redditch opened the scoring in the 13th minute, through Graham Deakin's quickly taken free kick - catching full debutant goalkeeper Aaron Butcher off guard.
However, The Pilgrims levelled 14 minute later. Liam Green and Paul Ellender worked an opening for Jon Rowan, who slotted home past home keeper Danny Lewis.
The visitors were arguably the better of the two sides in the opening 45 minutes, but the teams went in at the break level at 1-1.
After 20 minutes of the second half, the referee penalised a Pilgrims handball with a penalty. Butcher dived correctly, but Liam Daly's spot kick still found the net.
5 minutes later, the game was made safe by former Boston trialist Carl Heggs, who netted with a header from close range.
The attendance was 377 at the Vlley Stadium.
