Boston United 0 Ashton United 1

A single goal in the second half saw Boston United defeated at home to Ashton United, in a game of huge disappointment for Tommy Taylor’s side.

Ben Deegan flicked in the winner just 5 minutes after half time, and the visitors clung on resolutely and only allowed The Pilgrims speculative efforts on goal as they searched for an equaliser.

Indeed it was Ashton who almost netted a second when Ian Bennett drilled just inches wide of Chris Wright’s right hand post.

Lee Beeson almost did net a leveller, having come on a substitute, on two occasions but slotted wide when presented with a good opportunity, and then could only divert the ball into goalkeeper Terry Smith’s arms when clean through.
